Seokchan Yun | About

*Seokchan (Channy) Yun had 10 year experiences of Internet business especially online music, e-commerce, e-payment and Internet security in early world-wide web industry.

In Nine4u Inc, he developed Nine4u.com, the first Korean music web casting service in 1998 and operated Asiamusic.net, the largest music database from 1997 to 2004. (Both was ended in Dec.2008). It was connected e-commerce features, so he developed many e-commerce web sites including YBM's Musicland, Tutty and SK's online CD shopping mall in 2000. Also he made Mypay.net, the multiple payments service for small merchants. After his software developing career, he made own business models and technical marketing as a CTO in Nine4u from 2000. He had opportunity to work with VeriSign and Thawte as a reselling partner.

In Daum, he involved to make technical strategy as a staff of corporate R&D center and designed career paths and operated education programs for over 300 software engineers from 2004 to 2006. He also engaged some projects including Ajax based Hanmail addressbook in 2005 and Daum Open API platform in 2006.

For needs to communicate with outer developers by Web 2.0 phenomena, his job forwards to technical evangelism to operate Daum's API gateway and encourages Web 2.0 mashup applications by 3rd party developers with Daum Developers Network and Associates(DNA, dna.daum.net). He also has engaged open source "Mozilla" project since 2002 as a korean l10n module owner to make Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird Korean version. His second interest is web standards to improve information accessibility in Korea. He wrote several books including "DOM Scripting" translation, gave speeches, event coordination and leading community.

He is WaSP ILG member and W3C HTML W/G invited expert. Especially he has written for ZDNet Korea about various technical subjects on the web since 2004.
